How to read these numbers

  • These are published estimates, not quotes. Real prices vary by clinic, city, and what care you need.
  • The urgent care figures come from health information websites, not from a government survey.
  • The ER figures are from older data and come from insured claims and posted hospital prices, not from bills paid by uninsured patients.
  • A video visit cannot do everything an urgent care center or an ER can do. It cannot take an X-ray or treat a serious injury.

Costs that are not part of the visit price

  • Prescriptions. If a clinician sends a prescription to your pharmacy, the pharmacy sets the price.
  • Lab tests and imaging. If a clinician recommends a test, the lab or clinic bills for it.
  • In-person care. If a clinician sends you to an urgent care center or an ER, those bills are separate.

Never skip emergency care because of cost

Call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room for:

  • Chest pain, trouble breathing, or signs of a stroke
  • Severe injury, heavy bleeding, or a head injury with confusion
  • A seizure, fainting, or any situation you believe is life-threatening

Frequently asked questions

How much is a DOC MD video visit without insurance?
A first visit is $89 and a follow-up visit is $69. The price is shown before you book, and you do not need insurance.
Does the visit price include prescriptions or lab tests?
No. A pharmacy sets the price of any medicine a clinician prescribes, and labs or in-person care are billed separately.
Will I be charged if I am not seen?
DOC MD places a temporary card authorization when you book. It is captured only if you are seen or the visit is approved as eligible. Otherwise the hold is released and you are not charged.
Is a video visit a replacement for urgent care or the ER?
No. A video visit suits many everyday problems, but it cannot replace an exam, an X-ray, or emergency treatment. If you think you are having an emergency, call 911.
